Auch wenn viele Fans von Computerspiele aktuell hauptsächlich über die auf den Game Awards gezeigten Trailer reden, so wurden während dieser Veranstaltung natürlich auch eine Reihe von Preisen verliehen. Schließlich ist dieses Event aktuell noch immer dafür dar, um besondere Leistungen in der Spiele-Branche zu würdigen und die dafür verantwortlichen Entwickler positiv hervorzuheben. In 2025 haben Geoff Keighley und sein Team die Game Awards in insgesamt 30 einzigartigen Kategorien verliehen.
Der Sieger des gesamten Abends ist natürlich das von Sandfall entwickelte „Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“. Dieses Spiel wurde im Vorfeld in insgesamt 13 verschiedenen Kategorien nominiert, was zuvor nur Baldur’s Gate 3 gelungen ist. Von diesen 13 möglichen Preisen hat das Spiel natürlich auch direkt 9 für sich entscheiden können. Dazu gehörte unter anderem der begehrte und wohl verdiente Preis für das diesjährige Spiel des Jahres. Mit dieser Anzahl hat das Spiel einen neuen Rekord für die an einem Abend erhaltenen Preise aufgestellt.
Auch wenn „Clair Obscur: Expedition 33“ das Event dominiert hat, so konnten natürlich auch andere Spieler auf dem Event glänzen. GTA 6 erhielt den Preis für das „Most Anticipated Game“, Arc Raiders wurde als bestes Multiplayer-Spiel ausgezeichnet, Hades 2 ist das beste Action-Game des Jahres und Hollow Knight: Silksong wurde mit dem Preis für das beste Adventure-Game geehrt.
